Meet our Safety Manager, Gage!

Gage has been with Monnig Global since August 2019 as the safety manager and has been an excellent addition to the team. He is a Glasgow native and a 2018 graduate of Glasgow High School. Read on to learn a little more about him and what led to his career in safety management!

What does your typical day look like?

A typical day for me is ensuring that our facility is free of hazards that could cause harm to our employees or damage to property while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations. I also conduct accident investigations, ensure employees are following our safety policies, act as the liaison for our workers compensation carrier, and train employees on safety and health topics.

What do you like most about your job?

What I like most about my job is seeing the daily improvement throughout all of our plants becoming safer.

What led you to safety management?

What led me to a career in safety management would probably be my father being in the safety field. That allowed me to see all of the career opportunities and growth within safety management.

Why is workplace safety important?

Workplace safety is the foundation of every successful company. Safety impacts the culture, efficiency, and profitability of a company.

What are some things you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I love to do a lot of outdoor activities like golfing, hunting, and fishing. I also love to just hangout with my family and friends.

What do you like most about your industry?

The thing I love about this industry is how it may go unnoticed, but there is a great importance of galvanized steel around everyone each day.

What would you say to anyone who is thinking of pursuing a career in the galvanized steel industry?

You have to be a hard worker to have a successful career in this industry. It can be a tough job, however, it has great benefits, pay, and career opportunities.
